What you see here are Initial D diecast replicas
from Tomica. For those who are not aware, Tomica has long produced Initial D diecasts
especially during the franchise's heyday. At the peak of its popularity, the
anime has captivated thousands of fans around the globe and somewhat promoted
the drifting and imports car culture.
Tomica has mostly produced diecast replicas of Initial D from seasons 1 to 3. These replicas include Takumi's Toyota AE86 (otherwise known as the Trueno), the Mazdas of the Takahasi brothers, the black Nissan Skyline of the Night Kidz, and the Mitsu Evolutions of the Emperors.
The early seasons of Initial D run started from 1998 to 2001. Around this period, a lot of Initial D diecast merchandise was produced by different manufacturers (even Coca Cola jumped in the bandwagon) including Tomica.
However, since the franchise has entered hiatus in a certain sort of way, so did production of Initial D diecasts making it relatively rare thereby prices expectedly surged.
Until recently, Tomica Initial D diecast are again populating toy shelves. Even though the details are not that accurate, it is still very much welcomed since Initial D diecast prices has also dropped.
However, for true Initial D diecast collectors who wanted highly accurate details can always shell out a little extra for Jada's Initial D diecast
